The Photographer Got Photographed

Steve at Cafe la Boheme

Photographed by Eric Chaffee

Like most photographers, I don’t usually like to see photos of myself (much less post them for all to see).  But my friend Eric, blog subscriber and part-time Merida resident, nailed me at Cafe la Boheme a few mornings back and the photo above was the end result.  Considering the raw material he had to work with, I think it turned out pretty good.  Anyway, you gotta know that I’m stretching for subject matter to actually post a photo of myself.

However, having said that, I am photographing the fundraiser event for Puuc Jaguar Reserve this afternoon, and should have some interesting photos and narrative for tomorrow’s blog post.  I am also planning a scooter ride to Eco Park (here in Merida) to do some bird shooting (with my camera of course).  And I’ve been invited back to Kaxil Kiuic where the Puuc Jaguar Reserve is located to photographed the wildlife and native forest (jungle).

Oh, and for those of you who are interested, I had a Pedro Gonzalez (our resident Gecko) sighting last night.  It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the little bugger—he didn’t have anything to say really, he just shot across my bedroom wall lickety-split.  You would think that after all of this time he would have stopped to chat.  Obviously, the little creep-a-zoid still has attitude.  And Joel has adopted Brutus, our newly acquired backyard Iguana (and not to be confused with Bruce our neighbors silly Rottweiler).  Maybe I can get a photo of him (the Iguana)—in the meantime this is a photo of an Iguana I captured (with my camera) at our hotel in Celestun.  And BTW, any similarities between the two photos is purely coincidental (I shouldn’t have had to say that).
