May Day Ciudad De Merida

May Day:  May 1, 2013.  Around much of the world May 1st is also Labor Day.  And that would be true here in Mexico also.  We viewed the demonstration (celebration) last year, and today was a repeat.

Sitting out front of Cafe la Boheme, on Paseo de Montejo, I had a ringside seat of the festivities.  The tree-lined Paseo (six lanes across) hosted thousands of folks representing every union imaginable.

I’ve attached a short video of the proceedings.  Although it was shot originally in HD, downloading to the blog really affected the viewing quality.  I have a lot to learn, apparently, about both shooting and downloading video.  Anyway, it will give you a sense of this morning’s activity on the Paseo.  I’ve also included some still images from this morning showing:  Cafe la Boheme; Chris & Ricardo; Dermot; Monica; my red scooter and some other stuff.
