Till Death Do Us Part

For better or for worse, in sickness and in health, till death do us part.  I spoke those vows to my old girl Tilley back in September 2011.  She isn’t the sweet young thing she used to be, but she is maturing nicely.  A few more wrinkles, a stain on her complexion here and there, and her personal hygiene is woefully neglected now and again—but, hey, we all grow old eventually.  She’s Canadian by birth, but is now a citizen of the world.  When she came into my life she promised me many things, and she has fulfilled every single promise. She’s a wonderful old gal, and I still love her.  Faded and battered as she might be, she stays strong and by my side (or on top of my head) always—through thick and thin. Whether it’s the windswept shores of Isla Mujeres and Tulum, the mangrove swamps of Ria Celestun and Sian Ka’an, or the jungles of Palenque and Yaxchilan.  Through rain, humidity and blistering heat she is always there for me and ready to serve me faithfully.  She is quite the woman, my Tilley.  If you would like to read how our love affair began then (Click Here).
