The Prisoner

Original Poem:  Joel R. Dennstedt

Photo:  Stephen F. Dennstedt

Grim reflections reap this grim expression.
It is not memory that holds him still.
A wasteland worse than what he sees
Lies just behind his eyes – with no relief.
He sees no freedom past his bars,
He does not see the bars.
Just a barren wasteland,
He calls grief.
